From all of the alleged drama behind Don’t Worry Darling to the longstanding rivalry between Nicki Minaj and Cardi B, there are plenty of celebrity feuds that never seem to end. However, sometimes, celebs who are involved in drama are able to reconcile — and some even become friends.
Here are 14 celeb duos who ended their infamous feuds:
1.THE FEUD: After their first date in 2010, Selena Gomez had an on-and-off-again relationship with Justin Bieber. Several months after their final reconciliation in early 2018, he married Hailey Baldwin — and rumors of a feud between the women has followed them ever since. Many people speculated that he cheated on Selena with Hailey.
THE FRIENDSHIP: In 2022, Hailey told the Call Her Daddy podcast that she was “never with him when he was in a relationship with anybody” and that “there’s no drama personally” between her and Selena. A few weeks later, the women were photographed together for the very first time.
2.THE FEUD: High School Musical: The Musical: The Series costars Joshua Bassett and Olivia Rodrigo‘s alleged relationship and breakup was rumored to be the subject of Olivia’s breakout single, “Drivers License,” and her angsty debut album, Sour.
THE FRIENDSHIP: After a year of releasing songs rumored to be about each other, Olivia and Joshua posed together on the red carpet at their show’s Season 3 premiere.
3.THE FEUD: “The Boy Is Mine” collaborators Brandy and Monica allegedly didn’t like each other and got into a physical altercation before their VMAs performance. They also had a longstanding disagreement over who the song belonged to.
THE FRIENDSHIP: In 2020, they put their feud to rest on the Instagram Live show Verzuz. They performed the song together and hugged.
4.THE FEUD: Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan’s friendship-turned-feud reportedly started when Lindsay got into a relationship with Paris’s ex-boyfriend Stavros Niarchos in 2006. At the time, Paris laughed as her friend Brandon Davis trash-talked Lindsay to the paparazzi. Over the next 10-plus years, the women took digs at each other publicly.
THE FRIENDSHIP: In late 2021, Paris reached out to Lindsay to make amends. On Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Paris said, “I just feel that we’re grown-ups now. I just got married; she just got engaged. We’re not, like, in high school. I think it was just very immature, and now everything is all good.”
5.THE FEUD: Childhood friends and The Simple Life costars Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie allegedly had a falling out over Nicole’s envy that Paris got to host Saturday Night Live in 2005. Rumor had it that Nicole threw a party when the episode aired and leaked Paris’s sex tape.
THE FRIENDSHIP: In 2007, Paris and Nicole made amends on the Season 5 premiere of The Simple Life. They’ve been on good terms ever since.
6.THE FEUD: In 2015, Meek Mill accused Drake of using a ghostwriter, which led to the rappers insulting each other on social media and in their music.
THE FRIENDSHIP: During a concert in 2017, Drake acknowledged fans who were wearing “Free Meek Mill” shirts in protest of the rapper’s incarceration following a probation violation. Then in 2018, Meek joined Drake onstage in Boston.
7.THE FEUD: Charmed costars Shannen Doherty and Alyssa Milano reportedly developed tension during Season 3. At times, they weren’t on speaking terms. Shannen ended up leaving the show.
THE FRIENDSHIP: After Shannen was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, Alyssa reached out to her. They remained in contact and still appear to be on good terms.
8.THE FEUD: In 2012, Madonna told the Daily Beast that Lady Gaga had copied her 1989 release “Express Yourself” with “Born This Way.” Lady Gaga denied copying Madonna’s song. Madonna played a mashup of the songs on her tour, and Lady Gaga joked that she’d “basically been hoping that [she] would become so good that one day I would piss off Madonna.”
THE FRIENDSHIP: At the 2015 Met Gala, Madonna and Lady Gaga cozied up for a picture with Katy Perry. Madonna captioned it “girls night out…kissing the ring [which means giving respect]…finally!”
9.THE FEUD: Debbie Reynolds and Elizabeth Taylor were friends until Elizabeth’s husband Mike Todd died in 1958. Following her loss, she began an affair with Eddie Fisher — Debbie’s husband. He left Debbie and their kids for Elizabeth, whom he married in 1959.
THE FRIENDSHIP: Debbie eventually forgave Elizabeth, and in 2001, they costarred in These Old Broads, which Carrie Fisher (Debbie and Eddie’s daughter) wrote.
10.THE FEUD: In 2008, Joe Jonas ended his three-month relationship with Taylor Swift in an infamous 25-second phone call. She called him out on Ellen. Over the next few years, they both released songs rumored to be about each other.
THE FRIENDSHIP: In 2015, Taylor and her then-boyfriend Calvin Harris went on a double date with her friend Gigi Hadid and her then-boyfriend Joe. Both Taylor and Joe have admitted to regretting the way they handled their breakup. While performing “Much Better” in 2020, Joe changed the lyrics allegedly shading Taylor. In 2021, his wife, Sophie Turner, shared a Fearless (Taylor’s Version) bonus track that’s rumored to be about Joe to her Instagram story.
11.THE FEUD: At the 2013 Golden Globes, hosts Amy Poehler and Tina Fey made a joke about Taylor Swift’s dating life, telling her to “stay away from Michael J. Fox’s son.” Referencing the joke in a Vanity Fair interview two months later, Taylor quoted Madeleine Albright: “There’s a special place in hell for women who don’t help other women.”
THE FRIENDSHIP: At the 2020 Golden Globes, Amy and Taylor co-presented the award for Best Animated Motion Picture. Rather than address their past beef, they seemed to have moved past it.
12.THE FEUD: In 2013, then-16-year-old Lorde came under fire for telling Metro, “Taylor Swift is so flawless, and so unattainable, and I don’t think it’s breeding anything good in young girls.” She later apologized on Tumblr.
THE FRIENDSHIP: Taylor sent Lorde flowers after a performance. They hung out at Shake Shack afterward, but Lorde told The Tonight Show that they truly cemented their friendship at a Grammys party when a stranger asked if Lorde was Taylor’s manager, and Taylor immediately answered, “Yes!”
13.THE FEUD: Ahead of the 2015 VMAs, Nicki Minaj expressed that she felt “Anaconda” was snubbed, tweeting, “If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year.” VOTY nominee Taylor Swift thought that Nicki was referencing her and tweeted, “I’ve done nothing but love and support you. It’s not like you to pit women against each other.”
THE FRIENDSHIP: Nicki clarified that Taylor misinterpreted her tweet and called on her to “speak on” it. After a bit of back and forth, Taylor apologized, tweeting, “I thought I was being called out. I missed the point, I misunderstood, then misspoke. I’m sorry, Nicki.” Then, Nicki brought Taylor onstage during her VMAs performance.
14.And finally, THE FEUD: Katy Perry and Taylor Swift’s feud began when three of Taylor’s dancers left the Red tour to go work for Katy. Each singer released a supposed diss track about the other — “Bad Blood” (Taylor) and “Swish Swish” (Katy). Taylor told Rolling Stone that the subject of her song “did something so horrible.” She said, “I was like, ‘Oh, we’re just straight-up enemies.’ And it wasn’t even about a guy! It had to do with business. She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me…so now I have to avoid her.”
THE FRIENDSHIP: While Taylor was touring her Reputation album in 2018, Katy sent her a literal olive branch. Taylor baked her cookies and featured her in the “You Need to Calm Down” music video. Katy told Ellen, “I’m all about redemption and forgiveness, and for setting an example for those younger people that it could be cool to ask for forgiveness.”
